APP Daytona Beach Open Results - Golden Ticket Qualifier for Amateurs and Pros
The APP tour traveled to Daytona Beach this weekend for a golden ticket qualifier.
Top seeded players and partners, Parris Todd and Hunter Johnson were going for a triple crown… but were they able to pull it off? Check out the results below to find out!
Mens PRO Doubles - APP Daytona Beach Open
Gold: Andrei Daescu / Kyle Yates
Silver: Hunter Johnson / Yates Johnson
Bronze: Stefan Auvergne / Brendon Long
Hunter and Yates Johnson took down Andrei Daescu / Kyle Yates 11-8, 2-11, 11-6 in the winner bracket semi final. Andrei Daescu / Kyle Yates dropped down to the losers bracket and worked their way back to the gold medal match for a rematch with the Johnson brothers. Daescu / Yates came out on top the second time around 11-3, 11-8, 15-11.
Mixed PRO Doubles - APP Daytona Beach Open
Gold: Bobbi Oshiro / Brendon Long
Silver: Parris Todd / Hunter Johnson
Bronze: Simone Jardim / Andrei Daescu
Similar to the mens doubles final, Parris Todd / Hunter Johnson lost in the winner bracket semi final then worked their way back to the gold medal match. Todd / Johnson had a rematch with Bobbi Oshiro / Brendon Long in the gold medal match. Parris Todd / Hunter Johnson came out strong winning the best two of three 11-5, 12-10. Due to them coming from the losers bracket, this didn’t win them the title… but it forced a winner takes all game to 15. Bobbi Oshiro / Brendon Long were able to bounce back and win 15-6 to take home the gold medal.
Womens PRO Doubles - APP Daytona Beach Open
Gold: Simone Jardim / Parris Todd
Silver: Megan Fudge / Susannah Barr
Bronze: Bobbi Oshiro / Lee Whitwell
Simone Jardim / Parris Todd dominated their way to clinch a spot in the gold medal match. After dropping down to the losers bracket, Megan Fudge / Susannah Barr were able to work their way back into the gold medal match. They forced a game three, but Jardim / Todd finished strong to cap off their dominating performance and win another gold medal.
Mens PRO Singles - APP Daytona Beach Open
Gold: Hunter Johnson
Silver: Yates Johnson
Bronze: Max Manthou
Mens singles was all Johnson brothers. They met in the winners bracket final for an epic match with Yates Johnson winning 12-10, 9-11, 11-9. Hunter dropped down to the losers bracket and successfully earned his spot back in the gold medal match for redemption against his brother.
Hunter ended up beating Yates in a thriller 11-9, 4-11, 11-8, 15-13.
Womens PRO Singles - APP Daytona Beach Open
Gold: Parris Todd
Silver: Salome Devidze
Bronze: Megan Fudge
Parris Todd stole the show in womens singles. She went 10-0 and took home the gold medal without much challenge.
