USA Pickleball Looking for a New Board Member

USA Pickleball (USAP), the governing body for the sport in America, is looking for a person to join the board. USAP is responsible for developing and growing the sport in the USA and its territories. The board is also in charge of rule changes which come out each year in January. The organization is a 501(c)(3) not for profit so it is a volunteer position. Currently, the board has seven members including the chair Phil Mortenson, vice chair Laura Patterson, and five at large members. Terms run for two years and board members do serve without compensation.

According to the post on Team Work Online, the board is the highest level of leadership in the organization and they provide fiduciary oversight and financial management. They also establish and maintain policies, provide strategic direction, and monitor programs and services. The USAP board is also responsible for enhancing the organization's image plus recruiting and selecting new board members.

Other requirements exist for each individual board member. Each person must know the history of the sport and follow the organization's bylaws and policies. The board members must also participate in board meetings and serve on committees. Individuals are expected to leverage relationships to help in bringing on corporate sponsors and securing financial resources. Of course, board members need to sign confidentially agreements, disclose potential conflicts of interest, and maintain confidentiality about the USAP.

As you can see, USAP board members have a lot of responsibility for pickleball in the USA. If you would like to apply for this remote open position, you can click here.  USAP also does have a program coordinator position open in Phoenix, Arizona which looks to be a full time in office paid position.
