Pickleball Coach Extraordinaire - Jordan Briones
As the sport of pickleball grows in leaps ‘n bounds more and more players are seeking professional training and coaching. Many see this as a way to improve their skills, strategy, and become a better player. There are choices out there that are self-paced, but many choose to find a resource that has real experience while at the same time are relatable. One such choice is Jordan Briones who owns & runs Briones Pickleball which is a standout in coaching the sport we all know and love.
More Than Just a Coach
Jordan has been playing since 2014, which is like dog-years in this sport, which is to say that he has the depth and experience like no other. An accomplished pro himself, ranking in the top 20 in the nation at the peak of his career, Jordan decided he’d like to focus on growing his family and teaching others all the skills & strategies he’s learned along the way. In 2017 he co-founded PrimeTime Pickleball and in 2021 he decided to create Briones Pickleball with a bit of a different approach.
The Four-Part Formula
Jordan began with the idea of working with small groups rather than large groups as large group settings are unable to provide specific attention that players are looking for in order to truly develop new playing techniques. He came up with what I like to call a “four-part formula” that looks like this:
1. Small Group 1-on-1 Coaching- direct instruction with each player.
2. Skills Pre-Screening- this is key as each player is pre-screened to determine playing proficiency so that your development is in concert with your level of play (not too high, nor too low).
3. Evaluation & Customization- each player goes through constant evaluation to ensure proper growth and development, and then given prescriptive guidance towards the progress they are seeking.
4. Post Coaching Follow-Up- this is the difference maker; follow-on coaching that reinforces all the newly formed habits and skills learned during the formal training & coaching.
Continuous Improvement Approach
Ask most players and they will tell you that they are constantly working to improve their game and so it is with Briones Pickleball that their design is based on a “continuous improvement approach”, which simply means that anyone who comes through Jordan’s training & coaching is more than a client, you’re officially on Team Briones. He is committed to your growth and development in the game, and with that comes a level of responsibility to the extent that he is invested in your success.
Not All Work
Learning is fun but if you’re not having fun then what’s the point? Jordan and his terrific wife Katrina have not left out one of the main things that make this game so inviting and that is the social component. They have designed their programs to not be just all work, no play. Lunches, dinners, and boating are just a few of the planned breaks in your learning experience.

Briones Pickleball has a couple of in-person coaching and training opportunities that you can inquire about; a 2-Day VIP Pickleball Intensive program and a Clinics & Lessons program, they’re currently being offered in Arizona and Colorado which provides an intensive & immersive learning experience to sharpen any players skills.
