How to Make Easy, Delicious Pickles at Home
We know. We know. Pickles have nothing to do with pickleball. But as people who think about pickleball most days all day, we couldn’t help but wander into a different area of the internet. Making pickles. So we tried a few recipes and want to share our favorite with you.
What You’ll Need
Cucumber
Water
Vinegar (Preferably Rice Vinegar)
Maple Syrup (Or Sugar)
Salt and Pepper
Red Pepper Flakes (If 1/2 You Like a Little Heat!)
Fresh Dill
Garlic
Bay Leaf (Optional)
How to Prepare
Chop your cucumber(s) into desired shape (could be spears or rounds/chips) and put them into a sealable jar, leaving at least an inch of room from the top.
Pour .5 cup of water, .5 cup of vinegar, 1.5 tablespoons of maple syrup, some salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if desired) into a a container and stir well.
Now, pour the liquid into the jar with the cucumbers and stuff some dill, garlic cloves, and a bay leave in before sealing it shut.
The flavor will develop in a few days. And they’ll stay good in your fridge for about 3 weeks.
Enjoy, Picklers!
